cosmic censorship

A hypothesis arising from the mathematics of black holes which states that singularities are always concealed from distant observers by their event horizon, and cannot be seen directly from outside their event horizon. If the Big Bang began at a singularity, it is a naked singularity that we can, in principle, see because we are on the "inside".
